i know i havnt been writing on here lately. So much is going on. I have been stuggling alot with my bills and my apartment its so hard not having my family around, they are all in Ohio and Im here in Arizona because of my teeth. This is such a big deal for me and i wouldnt leave it for anything.
so far I have had all the work on my top teeth done and also my bottom. and I got just one tooth on my bottom right pulled out because on the left side im already missing a tooth. I have no idea how or when I even got that pulled. also my bottom left is not that crouded. I finaly have my top braces on. i got them about a month ago I was hoping i would get both top and bottom at the same time but i didnt have the work on the bottom done at the time. I didnt want to wait. I was too excited that the work on top was done and they were ready for braces. I am so happy I got them I can already see some results. I got clear ones and I love them! I cant stop looking at my teeth. They are pretty great, I actualy like my smile more now. I know that might not make sence because its so soon but its different when you have messed up teeth and have braces to smile with because then its like yea I have messed up teeth but Im working on them. Yes of course they were very uncomfortable but they only hurt when I sqeeze my teeth together. I love Dr. curtis and his team they were amazing and everyone was so excited for me. They gave me a little care kit, which had everything I need to take care of my braces. I am getting my bottom braces on on thursday i cant wait im so excited!

2nd appointment

So here I am getting one more step closer to getting my braces. I had my second appointment 2 days ago, I had work done on my top left. I got 3 fill ins and also 1 tooth from each side pulled. Because theres so much crouding in my mouth, we needed to make room for my teeth so they could straighten out. Going into my appointment I was very affraid of getting my teeth pulled out. I had no idea what it was gonna feel like or how much pain I was going to be in. After all it did not hurt at all. Getting the fillins were actually the most annoying part. Theres so much vibration and it takes so long! When getting my teeth pulled out I just felt alot of pressure and it was very uncomfortable. before i knew it the teeth were gone. Afterwards I was in alot of pain. I just couldt wait to get home. I wanted to go to sleep and ignore th pain.. Obviously it was bleeding after and they said I had to keep gauz in my mouth for about 45 minutes, but I kept it there for about an hour and half only because I was afraid the bleeding wasnt gonna stop. The prescription They gave me worked wonders, My teeth felt better after like 10 mintutes of taking them. My teeth felt so wierd afterwards. I couldnt say "S" or "f". when I eat food gets stuck there so I have to keep rincing my mouth out. The teeth next to the ones that were pulled out are very sore so i have to eat soft foods. All this is so worth it so I can get a pretty smile!!

As I get older I realize that its not whats under the tree that I care about the most but whos around it. I love my family. I am so thankful to have them. I hope everyone enjoyed their Holidays. Merry Christmas to all of you! I hope you got everything you wanted, and had an amazing time

My First Appointment

It was the most exciting day for me. I was so nervious and happy at the same time. Dr. Metz and his team were amazing and made me feel very comfortable. Finaly I had the work started on my teeth! Dr. Metz started work on my upper right side first.  I had the old gray fill ins out and they had to be restored. I also had a big cavity on the tooth next to to front one. Im glad that was fixed, i hated that tooth I always had food stuck in it and it was just horrible. I didnt feel any pain at all but so much vibration on my tooth for like 2 hours...but its all worth it and Im happy that my right side is all done! Now my top right looks nice and it looks white. I use to hate the gray fill ins. I cant wait till all the gray is out of my mouth.

My Story

My name is Rohina, I'm 20 years old. I am originally from Afghanistan. My family and i moved to India when i was a baby. When I was about one years old my father was killed and that is when everything changed. Me, my mom, and my brother we moved to Pakistan where my moms family was. We lived in a house with 1 bedroom and one huge living room where everyone was staying. My 3 uncles, one of their wifes, their 2 kids and also my grandparents, including us 3. Can you just imagine how crouded it was. no one had any privacy.
In 2002 we came to the United States as refugees. that was a huge turning point for us. I never really paid attention to my smile as a kid untill i got to middle school. The place where I met alot of judgmental people who would make fun of me, call me names. I was emotionly abused, I never thought i would be that girl that everyone at school picked on. I remember not wanting to go to school. I had missed so many days, I'm suprised I didnt get held back.
I started bugging my mom about braces. but she was just a single mom she could only do so much for us. When I turned 15 I got my first job as a cashier at Mcdonalds. I tried saving up but it was so hard for me. I barely had any hours plus I was still in school. Everywhere I went they asked for about $1,000 for the down payment. I ended up giving up on braces for a while but I felt more and more insecure as I got older. I never smiled. When i turned 20 I gave it one more shot at trying to get braces, that is when I was so blessed to meet Dr. Curtis and Dr. Metz. they chose me for the My Smiles Transformation program. I am getting free treatment by them. I was in shock, i couldnt believe it was happening to me. Please feel free to follow me on my journey of finally getting my braces!
yours truely, Rohina.
